I have finally finished reading Druids, Dudes and Beauty Queens: The Changing Face of Irish Theatre edited by Dermot Bolger. I bought this book at the Brattle Book Shop in Boston on May 14, 2018. So it has taken me five years to get around to reading it. I actually started reading this book before the pandemic when I was still planning my trip to Dublin. Dermot Bolger is an Irish novelist and playwright. He was born in a suburb of Dublin and was a publisher of books. I have placed an order on Amazon for his novel Finbar’s Hotel although this is not a novel but a collection of short stories by many writers. And from Books-A-Million I ordered Dermot Bolger Plays 1 published by Methuen Drama. Methuen Drama publishes many collections of plays by British and Irish playwrights. I have a small collection of their books.
I now have four more books to read at a minimum to prepare for my trip to the Dublin Theatre Festival. Not that I expect to see any real Irish theater. It will probably be nothing but virtue signalling which is all the theater is good for these days.
