This is the first blog post for my new playwriting web site. It was always my intention to create a web site devoted to my playwriting but first I needed to write enough plays to justify having a web site. Every play you write increases your literary capital. You cannot promote your writing without the necessary literary capital. In business, you can’t market a product before you have a viable product. So I have concentrated on writing a few decent full length plays before turning to the task of promoting my plays online.
Many playwrights don’t have a web site for their plays so theater makers have no place to go to learn more about the playwright. The New Play Exchange web site can serve this function but you won’t appear more prominently than any other playwright on the planet and you won’t have much opportunity to sell yourself through additional writing. I plan to do some search engine optimization research using this web site.
